I've treated so many lovely new Mums who have just had a baby and are feeling completely overwhelmed and wondering when the motherhood bliss feeling is going to hit them! For some woman this does happen, but for others it takes time to adjust to their new life and their new responsibilities. And that's ok too!!

Dreams of motherhood often paint a picturesque scene- babies peacefully sleeping, smiling moments captured in perfectly framed photos and a seamless bond between mother and child. The anticipation of unconditional love and complete happiness colours these dreams, creating an idyllic vision of the journey ahead.


Reality, however, is a canvas with varied strokes. sleepless nights become a right of passage, marked by hundreds of nappy changes, many re-reads of the 'very hungry caterpillar', and a perpetual sense of responsibility. Don't get me wrong the joy is real, but it coexists with exhaustion and many moments of self-doubt.


Society and culture idealises a version of maternal instincts, where everything seamlessly falls into place. In reality, it's a learning curve, filled with trial and error, doubts, and a constant adaptation to the unpredictable needs of the child.


Motherhood in its reality, is a journey of contraindications, where chaos and calm coexists.

Its a testament to strength, patience, and the remarkable ability to find joy in the midst of unpredictability. The dream may sketch an ideal, but the reality of motherhood paints a masterpiece with every messy, beautiful stroke.
